Aasif is a Leeds based sculptor and film artist who is exploring how machine learnt software can be used to make sculptures.
Within his process-led work, Aasif renders and edits his own distorted machine learnt films for them to be used as a template to make physical sculptures. He observes the common themes found within the machine learnt videos and adapts them into sculptural forms. Aasif translates these ephemeral videos into free standing sculptures that live outside of the digital space.
It’s interesting to see something that is almost randomly generated like the machine learnt imagery be assembled into something that has a 3D form with its own texture and mass. The materiality of the latex and silicone copies the glossy quality found within his machine learning videos. His process-led work uses new technology to create machine learnt videos to then be adapted into sculptures using basic sculptural materials.
Aasif aims to create a confusing display of strange looking sculptural forms.

Aasif has had his films displayed at Double Features Lonely Arts Club at the Tetley Gallery as well as having his edited films be used for Alto Radios weekly DJ Schedule.
